A. Barlow Anderson

Attorney at Law

Barlow Anderson moved to Colorado in 2011 to attend school at Denver University Sturm College of Law. After graduating in 2014, Barlow began work as an Associate Attorney at a highly reputable family law firm that specialized in child custody, large asset dissolution, and support cases. While there, Barlow recognized an imbalance between the cost of legal representation and the clients’ needs and expectations.

Understanding much of the high cost of litigation comes from parties’ inability to reach just and equitable resolution proactively, Barlow worked toward equitable ends and kept his clients informed of their rights and responsibilities under Colorado law.

After nearly two years, he began work as a Law Clerk to two District Court judges in the 18th Judicial District’s Douglas County. Assisting his judges in the Criminal, Civil, Family, Probate, and Mental Health fields of law, Barlow discovered the importance of making the legal process clear and approachable to non-attorneys.

Beginning this firm with his close friend under the initial name of DIY Law, LLC, Barlow was able to employ his extended experience to help mothers and wives as well as fathers and husbands through the emotionally tumultuous world of family law. He has first hand knowledge of how tough a divorce can be and now successfully co-parents a young child. That experience allows him to help people in the similar situations involving divorce, parenting time/custody, support, protection orders, and other related legal matters that often inevitably arise in domestic relations cases.

Barlow’s love for the law sprouted from personal experiences that led him to law school, but he looks for every opportunity to enjoy the real reason he moved to Colorado, his love of the outdoors.

An experienced outdoorsman, Barlow has been rock climbing, ice climbing, white water kayaking, mountain biking, and fly fishing for more than fifteen years. Whether hundreds of feet up granite cliffs or Colorado surfing (freestyle whitewater kayak surfing), he makes the most out of everything he does. But what he really looks forward to is training his son and daughter to join him on his crazy adventures.

A few times a month, Barlow teaches people to rock climb. Although he can’t get out as much as he likes to, he loves sharing his love for the sport with other people.

Barlow also has a love of Japanese culture and tradition. In addition to teaching himself the Japanese language, he practices Kendo (Japanese fencing) and Iaido.
