Our Process
- Fill out our intake form or give us call. The more information you provide, the better we can assist. It is most helpful to have any decision letters or the date you applied for claims readily available.
- We will return your inquiry with either a call or email, depending on your preference. During the call, we will ask about your current claims, pending appeals and any other relevant dates related to your claims. We do not have to go into detail about the extent of your disabilities or any medical history if you are not comfortable with that. The most important information at this stage is the date you filed your claim, and your current rating. If you are a Veteran, we will also ask for the date the VA denied or granted the claim.
- We will review any documents you provide to us and decide the next best steps for your case. Sometimes it is too early in the process to hire a Denver attorney, and we will let you know if that’s the case. If you decide to hire us and your claim is viable for appeal, the next step is to fill out the initial intake paperwork.
- Our initial paperwork consists of 1-2 documents- a Fee Agreement and a VA Form 21-22a (Veterans only). The Fee Agreement outlines the scope of our work and informs the VA that we will be doing our work on a contingency-fee basis. Meaning, we only get paid if we win your case (Step 5 gives more details on our fee). The second form, a VA Form 21-22a, establishes our firm as your official representative for your claims and appeals before the VA. Filling out this form will automatically withdraw any previous representation you had in the past. So, if you worked with a DAV or VSO, their representation will be withdrawn as you can only have one representative at a time.
- Signing and returning the paperwork (via fax, email, or U.S. Mail) makes us your official representative. If we are successful in getting a benefit granted, we charge 20% of any retroactive pay. For more information about retroactive pay and effective dates, click here. We will never bill you as the VA will pay us directly.
